In English

HYTKY (or officially Helsingin Yliopiston teknokulttuurin ystävät ry) is an established non-profit electronic music association operating in Helsinki, FINLAND. HYTKY is also a student organisation registered under the University of Helsinki. HYTKY’s focus is on late-night underground techno parties and other electronic music related event production with a DO-IT-YOURSELF punk attitude. The association is home to a grassroots collective of young and eager techno culture activists. Since it’s founding in 1996, several creative generations of active members have participated in the production of electronic music events and forwarding of ”techno culture” in the greater Helsinki area.

HYTKY has a strong non-commercial culture where MUSIC, AMBIENCE and PEOPLE come first. Even amidst today’s commercial club scene, we strive to create exciting events with low cover charges and a friendly and fresh atmosphere. HYTKY is an integral part of the the Finnish techno family, taking part in the making of the electronic music culture in Finland.

Currently we organize four to six public events a year, ranging from genre bending, tongue-in-cheek, audio-visual concepts and straightforward techno raves in smoky strobe-filled rooms to tranquil ambient parties in intimate surroundings. Musically we are diverse, open-minded and eager to try out new things.

Welcome!

HYTKY Events – a mini history of our latest events

HYTKY 10V (04.11.06) HYTKY celebrated it’s 10th anniversary. We put on a special underground night as a treat to all who have supported us along the way. With its special lineup (Fabrice Lig, Orgue Electronique & TLR, Like A Tim live…) and setting, the party was designed to be DIFFERENT from your average club-party focusing on one big headlining act in a regular commercial club environment. On the 4th all the elements came together, HYTKY received a worthy brithday celebration and fun was had by all!

The Techno film festival (07.04.07) showcased films from Berlin and Detroit. E (27-29.7.07) was a joint forest weekender with with our fellow rave organization Entropy. Techno Freaks (20.10.07) was a two floor wild warehouse rave at a squatted restaurant.

Manaus (01.03.08) an excursion into the heart of the jungle sold out in 45 minutes! Aeropolis (24.05.08) took us to a city in the sky to party on a melodic and uplifting theme. The Drum ‘n’ Bass Documentary festival (30.05.08) the annual film festival took on a DNB/jungle theme. Rajavyöhyke (18.07.08 ) was a post apocalyptic rave at the former Rajatila-squat (RIP). H (09.08.08) Hytky & Entropy headed to the wilderness to party and relax together. Satiini (06.12.08) the ”satin” themed event looked at the sensual and sexy side of techno and featured Remute’s live PA from Germany.

Pohja (13.3.2009) succeeded despite it’s challenges on Friday the 13th and featured a beautifully decorated ”classic” chillout room.
